“The best-laid plans of mice and men/Often go awry.” Such is true for this summer and my intended sabbatical. I have decided to postpone my sabbatical leave until after Christmas, December 26 – March 12.
While some of my ideas for a sabbatical have worked out (continuing ed, a family vacation), the end result was that I would have had about 6 weeks with nothing to do except play video games and watch TV. While on some level that is appealing, it also feels that I am wasting an excellent opportunity that so few get. So I have decided to continue working through the summer, and Katy and I are regrouping to make the most of a winter sabbatical. I would really like to travel to Europe for the first time this year, and perhaps the winter will offer a better chance regarding Katy’s vacation time as well.
I still plan to attend my two continuing education classes in June, and the family and I are still going to take a family vacation in August (beach!).
Thanks for your understanding, and I’ll see you around this summer.
