Annual Meeting Documents

As I mentioned in my sermon on Sunday, our curacy program has been very successful here at St. Mark’s, providing a much needed additional clergy presence. It has allowed us to start new ministries, visit with more members, welcome more visitors, and be more present within our community. I am then excited to tell you that on July 15, our next curate will be joining the staff: The Rev. Hannah Hooker. She will also be here on June 5 to preach and meet you, so be sure to mark your calendars.
Here is an introduction from her:
Hey St. Mark’s!I am beyond thrilled to have been called to be your curate. I’m very excited to move to Jonesboro and to meet all of you. I have spent the last three years at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA, and I have loved every minute of it, but I am ready to get back to my roots in Arkansas. I was born and raised in North Little Rock, and my parents still live there. I have two brothers whom I love very deeply. John is a sophomore at Hendrix College in Conway, and James is a sophomore at North Little Rock High School. Coincidentally, these are my alma maters as well! I graduated from Hendrix with a degree in Philosophy and Religion in 2010. After college, you could say I tried my hand at everything. I built houses, taught 4th grade, was a hospital chaplain, and worked in food service, just to name a few. While I knew I was headed for ordained ministry by about 16, I was determined to have some life experiences under my belt before I went off to seminary. As you will see pretty quickly, I am a joyful, lively gal. My friends and family are fond of saying they can hear my laugh from a mile away. You will see my exuberance in worship, as well. I am a cradle Episcopalian and passionate about worship. I love to sing and pray with other people, and one of my most life-giving faith practices is reading scripture aloud. I am an avid reader, sometimes plowing through 2 or 3 books at a time, and I love music, movies, running, hiking, and most importantly, Washington Nationals baseball. I can already tell that the Holy Spirit is moving in exciting and powerful ways at St. Mark’s and I can’t wait to be a part of it!See you in June,Hannah
You can email Hannah a welcome note if you like- her email is: hannah.hooker@stmarksjonesboro.org. Also, be sure to thank Bishop Benfield when he visits on April 24 for renewing the curacy program here in Jonesboro for another two years.
God bless,
Jesse+
