As we celebrate All Saints and All Souls at St. Mark’s this weekend, it is a fitting time to begin thinking about our final wishes, and planning for our own deaths. Fr. Jesse will be holding an informal gathering after church this Sunday to discuss making plans for your final arrangements and funeral. For concerns around wills and financial planning, Tom Haynes, a local attorney, will also be present to answer your questions.
Too many times a death of a loved one comes unexpected, and the family is unprepared. It is easy to be overwhelmed with all decisions one must make; this class is a great time to begin thinking through how you would like to be remembered, and how you can make this difficult time easier for your surviving loved ones.
Grant, O Lord, to all who are bereaved the spirit of faith and courage, that they may have strength to meet the days to come with steadfastness and patience; not sorrowing as those without hope, but in thankful remembrance of your great goodness, and in the joyful expectation of eternal life with those they love. And this we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
