Dear St. Mark’s,
I want to remind you that this Sunday is our Rally Day, the fall kickoff for our program year at the church. Ministries that have taken the summer off resume, and we have a great time together at our worship services and luncheon. (Don’t forget about the potluck and bring lots of food!) In your bulletin for this Sunday, you will find a lot of good information about how you can volunteer at St. Mark’s. Please look over it and find somewhere to plug in and serve; church works best as an interactive experience.
In particular, we are needing volunteers for Shrimp Boil and Christian Education this year. I know both are big time commitments, but they are very important to the work we do. We have gained a good reputation for our Shrimp, and proceeds benefit Helping Neighbors Food Pantry, Church Health Center, and St. Mark’s; this is a great way to give back. Christian Education is also a fantastic way to contribute to the life of the parish; it resumes the Wednesday after Rally Day. We have over 20 kids of all ages who come for food, fellowship, and to learn about God! This ministry is so very important to who we are- these kids are not only the next generation of the church, they are the church today as well. Volunteer to help lead a class, or sign up to bring food.
During our instructional Eucharist, one of the big tenets of being the church is being involved; church is not a passive experience. It is a place we serve, worship, give, and receive. Come this Sunday to learn more about how you can give back to the ministries at St. Mark’s.
See you Sunday,
