The youth group at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church was encouraged to do a service project as a part of their confirmation class, Confirm not Conform. The group brainstormed ideas and decided on a project to which each of them could relate; struggles with self-esteem. “Don’t let them bring you down” became the guiding thought, as the youth shared how hurtful words can make you feel like you are “drowning.”
After further discussion, the group decided that a video project would be fun, cost-effective, and would reach the intended audience; their peers. The hope was that our St. Mark’s family combined with the greater Episcopalian community around the state would support our efforts by sharing the video on various social media outlets.
The project was completed and presented to the St. Mark’s Vestry for approval on May 18th, 2015. Our project was approved, and is to be shared on St. Mark’s website and Facebook page. We, as a group, all agree to share the video via Facebook and Twitter. We will be asking the state youth leadership to promote our video, as well.
Our prayer is that other youth will relate to some part of this video. We also hope they find some encouragement to keep their heads up and know that God has great plans for their life!
Thanks for watching,
St. Mark’s EYC
