Selma Sunday Vigil 2:30pm on the Main Street Bridge going to North Jonesboro
“This is an open invitation to all who feel called to honor those who stood up for the human dignity and civil rights of each individual, no matter their race. It is also a time to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice with their life, in Selma in March 1965, when persons of all faiths stood together for freedom and justice for us all. Can we do less?
Let Us Stand Together on March 8, 2015, from 2:30 – 3:30 pm (the time of the Pettus Bridge Crossing) at the Main Street Overpass. Assemble at the north end at corner of Johnson and Main. We will walk across overpass and carry signs/banners. Faith and community leaders will speak.”
This event is organized by the Unitarian Church in Jonesboro on the 50th anniversary of the first march attempt. Father Jesse will speak briefly remembering Jonathan Myrick Daniels, an Episcopal Seminarian who died in the fight for civil rights.
