On Saturday, February 28th, the handbell choir attended the Arkansas HMA (Handbell Musicians of America) State Festival at First United Methodist Church in Conway. The choir joined 13 other choirs from around the state for a full day of ringing, learning, and fun. They practiced ahead of time (as had the other choirs) to play several pieces, then came together to “polish” them, under the direction of Kath Wissinger. The day ended with a mass ring concert at 2:30pm that was open to the public. The choir thanks their fantastic leader, Rhonda Dauer, for encouraging and preparing them for such an event. This was the first time the group has participated in this event but it will definitely not be the last! They plan to showcase some of these pieces in church throughout the spring so stay tuned for a little taste of the festival.
